To cultivate something means to foster or improve the growth of; to develop something through work or by labor; the giving attention to
Before planting something, you have to cultivate the soil – ie removing things that hinder growth (rocks or weeds) and adding what is needed (the nutrients)
It’s very similar when it comes to our spiritual lives.
God’s Word is often illustrated as seed and our hearts as soil. The seed is good! The soil…not always so much!
When this happens, we must ask God to help us cultivate our hearts to be more receptive…and then we need to get to work!
Growth can happen, but it takes ‘giving attention to’ on our part. We have to remove anything that doesn’t belong (sin, bad habits, the toxic) and make room for what we truly need (time with God, reflecting upon His Word, prayer, and other ‘holy habits’)
This year we want to make growth a priority here.
Throughout 2021 we’ll be providing courses and workshops, as well as different resources and materials to help you grow closer in your walk with God.
We want to grow deeper so that we can reach higher.
“Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built up in Him.” – Colossians 2:7
